Years 1 and 2

During Key Stage 1 the children have daily English, Maths and Phonics lessons. Phonics is taught using Read, Write Inc and we have the Oxford Reading Tree to support Reading. Separate lessons for Science, Computing, Music, PE and RE are timetabled throughout the week.

Children in Year 1 complete the Year 1 Phonics test and children in Year 2 complete the optional SATs in Reading, Writing and Maths.

History, Geography, Art and Design & Technology are taught through a range of topics.

Children enjoy learning outside the classroom and we use our outdoor areas as often as we can. The teachers plan events and trips throughout the year to enrich the topics and make the learning fun. The children present a Key Stage 1 Christmas Production.

Children have the opportunity to take part in different lunch-time and after-school clubs. We elect two members of each class to join School Council, who meet each week to talk about ways to improve our school.
