Event - Year 6 Residential in Aberdovey

30 September to 4 October 2019

Year 6 enjoyed an activity packed residential trip to the Outward Bound Centre in Aberdovey. Some of the children share their thoughts with us:

Ruby: I really enjoyed going to the Outward Bound Centre in Aberdovey because I had so many responsibilities and I learned so many useful skills. I got a chance to work with other people and not only get to know other people, but get to know myself better. I used teamwork to get through challenges and coordination to get the job done. Outward Bound Centre is a great place to spend time with your best friends and other classmates. I am glad that I had the opportunity to go and try new things that will help later in life.

Lewis: I liked the Outward Bound centre because we got taught to work as a team in lots of activities including Jacob's Ladder, canoeing, mountain climbing and treasure hunts. I liked the place because you see stuff you don't normally see. Also I got to know about my friends more and the activities made me persevere and help others. I think all of us tried hard, we did stuff that pushed us out of our comfort zone. We all worked really well and it will make us good to work together in the future.

Izzy: I enjoyed my trip to Aberdovey because I got to spend time with my friends. This was good because I got to know them even more. Doing lots of teamwork-requiring challenges taught a skill of how to work in a team successfully. In gorge walking you had to help others physically, mentally and technically which helped us work better as a team. The Jacob's Ladder was hard but I persevered. It pushed me out of my comfort zone but it was a fun experience and I would love to do it again.

Harley: I enjoyed Aberdovey because I learned how to trust and believe in people. When I was in Wales, I learned how to work in a group. Also, I learnt to not always want to work with my best friend. While we were there, I did mountain climbing, canoeing, jetty jump, grot pot and a power boat swim. This trip made me persevere and my instructor Boo made me push myself out of my comfort zone. I think we all tried hard but most importantly I had fun.

Bella: I loved the visit to Aberdovey on residential because not only did we learn things about ourselves and nature, but we also learnt about teamwork, responsibility and a positive mind-set. On residential there was a variety of activities that all included teamwork of some sort. I also loved Aberdovey because of the staff, they were all so encouraging and understanding. They also told amazing stories and jokes. Overall we made a great team!
